A one-hour Star Wars Rebels special is to premiere on Disney Channel and will be followed by a series on Disney XD across the globe in Fall 2014.
Kanan, voiced by Freddie Prince Jr., is a former Jedi Knight who eluded the 'Order 66' massacre chronicled in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and is now in hiding.
According to Star Wars Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni, “He’s a gunslinger that needs to put the gun away and pick up the sword again, and fight for noble causes and selfless causes.”
Kanan will be joined on his intergalactic adventures by a grouchy astromech droid by the name of Chopper. Chopper's design is based on Ralph McQuarrie's concept art for Star Wars.
Expect Hasbro to release its tie-in toy line to coincide with the new series.
