I had heard they were working on a new release, but, really, could not be bothered to care, since the release 2 and 3 were never able to capture the excitement of the very first Matrix, which left me stunned, dazed and exhilarated, and had me talking for months and months, and led to many viewings. The first Matrix was a seminal achievement, setting the tone for a genre, and sci-fi movie making has never been the same after that, and will always be compared to that benchmark. So, with low to zero expectations on Matrix 4 I walked into the full trailer and re-experienced many of the same sensations of the initial viewing. I am now really excited, because it seems like the team has managed to bring back the original vibe without it feeling like cold pea soup warmed over a 4th time. I am looking forward to December!
