Chaos Rings only for iPhone

Square Enix has released Chaos Rings (iTunes) a new IP exclusively developed from the ground up for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

About Chaos Rings, from Square Enix:
"The story revolves around a tournament where combatants fight for their lives: the Ark Arena. Upon choosing a pair of characters, one male and one female, you will then have to fight against the other pairs. Each pair has their own story, and the truth behind the Ark Arena will not be revealed until each story is completed."

I've only played this opulent and luxurious RPG for a few hours and it evokes the excitement of playing Final Fantasy VII on PlayStation. This is a premium franchise that redefines the RPG genre on a mobile device. Chaos Rings is a sign of things to come! Bring on Kingdom Hearts...

To celebrate Chaos Rings. Square Enix has slashed the price of the following titles for a limited time:

Final Fantasy I (iTunes) £3.99
Final Fantasy II (iTunes) £3.99
Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes - Encore (iTunes) £4.99
Hills and Rivers Remain (iTunes) £2.99
Sliding Heroes (iTunes) 59p
Vanguard Storm (iTunes) £2.39
Crystal Defenders (iTunes) £3.49

Final Fantasy on iPhone

Final Fantasy I and II are now available on the App Store (iTunes link) in the UK.

Critics have lauded Square Enix's RPG-defining franchise and with justification - a series known for its audiovisual splendour and rich play tactics! Final Fantasy VII is amongst my top ten video games of all time and I recently revisited the game on PSN. Lets not forget the film franchise either. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within foreshadowed James Cameron's Avatar.

With only a matter of days until Final Fantasy XIII appears on both PS3 and Xbox 360, these classics are not to be missed!

Final Fantasy I & II for iPhone

Square Enix announced on Facebook and Twitter that Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II are coming to the App Store soon!

Judging from the official screenshots, released on Facebook, Final Fantasy's graphics have added gloss.

Which classic Square Enix games would you like to see ported to the iPhone? How about Chrono Trigger...

With the iPhone, iPod touch and Apple's unconfirmed tablet device. Nintendo's DSi and Sony's PSP will become redundant. Good times.

Final Fantasy creator plans game for iPhone

Famed Japanese game designer, game director and game producer Hironobu Sakaguchi has announced plans to develop a new game for iPhone and iPod touch.

The following extract is taken from the Mistwalker blog.

"Happy New Year.
2010 is the year of my long-awaited new blockbuster project.
I'm putting my heart and soul into this production. I'm taking a full swing and making this the best project.
Oh, by the way, We are also working on a project for iPhone.
This should be released soon as well.
We will put our efforts together and do our best!
I'm sure you'll Love it."

Sakaguchi is best known as creator of the classic Final Fantasy series. This is in addition to working on several monumental games of the era such as Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Xenogears, and Parasite Eve.
