Luke Skywalker will appear in Star Wars: Episode IX

Most Star Wars fans (myself included) will have assumed Mark Hamill would reprise the role of Luke Skywalker in Episode IX.

Luke Skywalker may have died in The Last Jedi but he can follow in the hallowed footsteps of Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi by becoming a Force ghost to guide Rey (Daisy Ridley) or Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) to their ultimate fate.

Hamill took to Twitter to reaffirm that he'd be appearing in director JJ Abrams' sequel and wouldn't be answering any questions. Because spoilers.

Carrie Fisher, who sadly passed away in 2016, will also be seen as General Leia in the upcoming Star Wars movie. In Abrams I trust.

  1. I get the feeling that it's going to be a tough watch emotionally. I found watching Carrie Fisher when I knew she had already died hard enough but this... gonna be tough.

    1. Couldn't agree more. My avatar is in tribute to meeting Carrie Fisher at Star Wars Celebration Europe.

  2. I think we all knew that Luke would return. I think Episode IX will answer who Ray's parents are and Kylo final confrontation.

I think the film will concentrate on Ray, Kylo, Snoke and Leia but also with a few other surprises thrown in too.

I'm looking forward to see how they honor Carrie Fisher but I know it will be a warming farewell.

Having J.J on board will guarantee a great film but will be interesting how all the team try and salvage from the destruction in The Last Jedi.

    1. Always hoped to see Rey and Kylo flip sides. Don't think that's going to happen now. Expecting JJ Abrams to reprise Return of the Jedi.
