John Williams on returning to Star Wars

John Williams' orchestrations are synonymous with a galaxy far, far away! When news broke that Disney was reigniting lightsabres for a new trilogy, I mused on directors, but never gave a second thought to composers!

“Each time we play [the Star Wars theme], I'm reminded of the first time we played it decades ago,” says Williams. “Neither I, nor George, nor anyone else involved thought this would go far, or in a few years there would be a sequel and I'd have to revisit the themes... and years later another trilogy.” “Now we're hearing of a new set of movies coming in 2015, 2016,” he continues. “So I need to make sure I'm still ready to go in a few years for what I hope would be continued work with George.”

Hasbro announces Star Wars Black Series

Hasbro and Gentle Giant are set to release a new series of 6" action figures later this year.

Under the banner of Star Wars Black Series. The first wave, due out in the summer, includes Luke Skywalker in his X-Wing Fighter flight suit, R2-D2, Darth Maul and an Imperial Sandtrooper.

"We consider them the best figures that Hasbro's ever produced for 'Star Wars' that meets the sensibilities of romancing the character as well as the playability and poseability that fans really appreciate," says Derryl DePriest, Hasbro vice president of boys marketing.

Fringe star to play villain in Star Wars?

Amidst speculation surrounding the standalone Star Wars movies, which includes Yoda, Han Solo and Boba Fett projects. Rumours have emerged that Fringe's John Noble may play a villain in JJ Abrams upcoming Episode VII at Disney!

This doesn't sound too far fetched. JJ Abrams is known to cast actors from his television series in movies. For example Keri Russell (Felicity) appeared in M:i:III.
