Alien: Romulus is an Alien and Aliens hybrid

On Tuesday, an official trailer dropped for Alien: Romulus.

Read the official synopsis:

"While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe."

The upcoming Alien franchise movie, directed by Fede Álvarez (Evil Dead), is set between Alien and Aliens and is a hybrid of both.

“To ask an Alien fan to choose between them is a perverse question,” he tells Empire magazine. “So I thought, ‘How do I do both?’” Brace yourself for a thrilling mashup of a haunted house in space and war movie. “There’s a moment where the characters are walking around areas familiar from the Nostromo,” says Álvarez. “Then they cross through that building and on the other side: boom! You’re in a hallway that looks like Hadley’s Hope [from Aliens].”

Originally intended to go straight-to-streaming on Hulu and Star on Disney+, Alien: Romulus is only in cinemas on 16th August.

  1. I watched the trailer knowing the hype was real for this movie with such a great teaser trailer and an exciting director, this trailer did not mess around. The look and tone, links to the first two movies and small easter eggs all make it a Alien lovers dream.

After the third installment, Alien 3 (which I really enjoyed) Alien 4: Resurrections for me missed the mark.

Alien: Romulus needs to nail the audience to their seat in an space vacuum rollercoaster ride! Great characters, dark tension and a claustrophobic pressure cooker of a movie!

The trailer treats us to a mash up of Alien meets Aliens and those two had a child. A xenomorph child that stalks around in the shadows and brings terror to this exciting new cast! An army of facehuggers chasing the crew along those iconic looking corridors...nail-biting stuff!

Now will we see 'big chap' or more terrifying...i'm excited to find out!

    1. It looks like a badly damaged 'Big Chap' from the original Alien is in Alien: Romulus, which could be interesting!
