Black Angel was a short film shown prior to Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in UK theatres during the summer of 1980. I never forgot the dark, evocative, imagery, nor how it foreshadowed the Star Wars sequel that would become my favourite film of all time.
Director Roger Christian, Academy Award-winning set director for Star Wars: A New Hope and nominee for Ridley Scott's Alien, was asked by Star Wars creator George Lucas to direct a 25 minute short that would play before The Empire Strikes Back.
The world Christian built evokes The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones decades before live-action adaptations graced cinema and television screens.
Now Black Angel is being remade with a superlative cast and fantasy fans can support it here.
