Foundation first look on Apple TV+

Apple TV+’s ambitious adaptation of Foundation, dubbed Games of Thrones in space, debuts with two episodes this Friday. The Cupertino-based tech titan has released a first look ahead of its highly-anticipated premiere.

Read the official Foundation synopsis:

"Based on the award-winning novels by Isaac Asimov, Foundation chronicles a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire."

“'Foundation' is the greatest science fiction work of all time, and it's never been brought to the screen before," says series showrunner and executive producer David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy). "It took a while for the world to be ready for 'Foundation,' and that age has finally arrived."

Foundation casts a long shadow over sci-fi popular culture. Influencing everything from Dune to Star Wars. The former was most recently adapted for the big screen by director Denis Villeneuve (Arrival).

Foundation premieres on 24th September exclusively on Apple TV+.

  1. This the second drum beat for an excellent autumn of Science Fiction. After viewing Villeneuve's "Dune" 2 times, I am now stoked by the passion and quality brought to my favorite genre. I have a good feeling about this, Indiana Jones would say to Chewbakka, and then engage the warp drive for fun. Jokes aside, Foundation was, and still is, one of my favorite space operas. I read this series of books about 50 years ago, and I have forgotten most of the details. This, then, will be a fresh look. My hopes are that they will take their time to establish the universe, like Villeneuve does with his films. It will be interesting to observe if they will be able to keep the audiences attention throughout the 1000 year span of the novels, since they will not be able to focus on a single stable character. There would be one obvious way to do it, but I won't say as it would give away one of the biggest literary plot twists in Sci Fi ever. And I won't do that, unless you insist, and then you can contact me with a personal message (** issues impirial cackle and draws hood over face ** )

    1. Apple has invested a lot of money into Apple TV+ and has, for the most part, produced high quality content (hiring top tier talent and studios). I'm excited to see how Foundation pans out.

At the very least, it'll keep me occupied until The Book of Boba Fett this December on Disney+.
