William Shatner's real-life Star Trek

William Shatner is purportedly on the verge of becoming the oldest person to travel into space.

The veteran 90-year-old actor, famous for playing Captain James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek series, will boldly go into space aboard Jeff Bezos' civilian spacecraft (Blue Origin New Shepard rocket) for an upcoming documentary.

He previously expressed an interest in joining the SpaceX Crew and told a San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) audience: “There’s a possibility that I’m going to go up for a brief moment and come back down.”

Hopefully, Shatner won't encounter any Klingons or Romulans during his 15-minute spaceflight this October.

  1. The man can't help himself. He's been bitten by the space bug. Good for him, breaking new ground at his age and go where no actor has gone before. He will beat Tom Cruise to a space sojourn, even if it's only to the edge of space.

    1. Can you imagine a Star Trek movie partially filmed in suborbital space?
