Apple and LEGO are two of my favourite brands. Therefore, I couldn't ignore this 700-piece LEGO Ideas iMac G3 submission developed by fan designer terauma!
Read the official description:
"The iMac G3 was released in 1998.
The bold design, which overturned the conventional image, attracted many people and became the beginning of the later translucent boom. When I was a kid, my brother and I often played games on this iMac.
By releasing this set at LEGO, I wanted people to pick up this nostalgic computer again."
Sir Jony Ive's iconic all-in-one iMac design would become a cultural phenomenon, appearing in everything from Jennifer Lopez's iconic pop promo for If You Had My Love to television series, foreshadowing the Cupertino-based company's rise, Lazarus-like, under the auspices of the then returning co-founder Steve Jobs, from imminent collapse into the consumer electronics giant we know today.
Without the iMac, there would be no iPod, iPhone or iPad and, quite possibly, no Apple.
A LEGO Ideas iMac G3 may be a pipe dream due to licensing, but I've cast my vote here. LEGO has a storied history with Disney, Nintendo and more, so why not Apple?
